One day while driving down a country road I saw a little squirrel in a tree. The little guy seemed nervous about my approaching car, and instead of staying where he was he bolted down the tree and began to cross the road in front of me.
The animal was very fast crossing the road, and I did not slow the car down because he was on the other side of the road before I knew it. Then the squirrel did the unthinkable. The squirrel stopped at the edge of the other side of the road, turned around and bolted back to his tree. I slammed on my breaks barely missing the little guy! He ran up his tree to where he felt safe.
Squirrels and people have something in common, we love our safe spaces. When we try to cross the road to success most of us turn around and run back to where we feel safe. And like the squirrel, sometimes that can turn us into road kills of life.
Doing the same thing over and over again expecting better results is insane. You first need to cross the road.
